Privacy Policy
Effective date: 11th October 2026
This policy explains what information Plexilent Pvt Ltd (“Plexilent“, “we”, “us”) collects when you use the Plexilent mobile apps, the Plexilent Wi-Fi gateway, our cloud services and our website plexilent.com (together, the “Services“), why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
Who we are. Plexilent Pvt Ltd, #809/810, 8th Floor, Lodha Supremus, Tower ‘B’, Kolshet Road, Thane (W) – 400607, Maharashtra, India. Email: connect@plexilent.com.
In short:
- We collect what the Services need to work: your account details, your home’s device setup, and device status.
- We do not sell your information and do not use it for advertising.
- Voice recordings never reach us. If you link Google Home, Amazon Alexa or SmartThings, we exchange only device names, types, rooms, state and the commands you give.
- You can delete your account from inside the app at any time.
1. Scope
This policy covers the Services listed above. It does not cover third-party services you choose to connect (such as Google Home, Amazon Alexa or Samsung SmartThings), which have their own privacy policies.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Account information (you give it to us)
When you create an account: your name, email address, mobile number and a password. Passwords are handled by our sign-in provider (Google Firebase Authentication); we never see or store your password in readable form.
2.2 Your home and devices (created as you use the app)
To let you control your devices from your phones, we store your home (“network”) configuration:
- the names you give to devices, rooms, areas, floors, groups, scenes and schedules;
- device types, model and firmware information, and their network addresses;
- device settings you choose (for example brightness limits, colour temperature range, sensor settings);
- the security keys your devices use to talk to each other over Bluetooth mesh. These are stored so that your other phones, and people you share the home with, can control the same devices.
2.3 Device status and the Plexilent gateway
If you use a Plexilent Wi-Fi gateway, it reports to our cloud:
- whether each device is reachable (online/offline), and the last state a device was set to (on/off, brightness, colour, position) and replies from devices (for example a switch being pressed);
- the gateway’s own status: its identifier, firmware version, the name of the Wi-Fi network it is connected to, its local IP address, signal strength and uptime.
The Wi-Fi password you enter to set up a gateway is sent directly from your phone to the gateway. It is never sent to our servers. If you choose to save it for next time, it is stored only on your phone, encrypted.
2.4 Information from your phone
- Bluetooth is used to find, set up and control devices nearby. On some Android versions the operating system requires location permission for Bluetooth scanning; we use it only for that and do not collect or store your location.
- Camera is used only to scan QR codes (for example to join a home someone shared with you). Images are not stored or uploaded.
- Microphone is used only when you turn on music mode, to make lights react to sound. Sound is analysed on your phone in real time; it is never recorded, stored or uploaded.
- Notifications: a notification token, so we can tell you, for example, that your gateway went offline.
- Camera recorders (CCTV): if you add a video recorder, its address and login are stored only on your phone and used to connect to it directly.
2.5 Technical and diagnostic information
To keep the Services working and secure, we collect app version, device model, operating system, language, crash reports, performance measurements and basic usage events (through Google Firebase Crashlytics, Performance Monitoring and Analytics), and app integrity checks (Firebase App Check / Google Play Integrity / Apple App Attest) that protect our cloud from fake apps. These are not used to identify you for advertising.
2.6 Website
When you visit plexilent.com, our web server and Google Analytics may collect your IP address, browser type, pages visited and cookies. You can block cookies in your browser. Information you send through a contact form (name, email, phone, message) is used only to reply to you.
3. How we use information
- To provide the Services: create your account, sync your home across your phones, control devices locally and through the gateway, run your scenes and schedules, and share a home with people you invite.
- To send service messages, such as gateway-offline alerts and important account or security notices.
- To keep the Services secure, prevent abuse and fix problems.
- To improve our products, using crash reports and aggregated usage information.
- To comply with the law.
We do not sell your information, use it for targeted advertising, or build advertising profiles.
4. Sharing a home
If you share your home with another person, they can see and control the devices, rooms, scenes and schedules in it, and see device status. Remove them from the home in the app to stop this.
5. Voice assistants and smart home platforms (Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Samsung SmartThings)
This applies only if you choose to link your Plexilent account to one of these services.
- What we share with them: the names, types and rooms of the devices in your home, their capabilities (for example dimming or colour), and their current state (on/off, brightness, colour, position, online/offline).
- What we receive from them: the commands you give (for example “turn on the kitchen light”) and requests for the current state of your devices, so we can carry them out through your gateway.
- What we never receive: recordings of your voice, or your Google, Amazon or Samsung password. Voice is processed by the assistant’s provider under its own privacy policy.
- Use: information exchanged with these services is used only to carry out your commands and show your devices’ state in their apps. It is not used for advertising and not shared with anyone else.
- Account linking: linking creates access tokens that let the service act for your Plexilent account. We store these tokens securely and use them only for this purpose.
- Stopping it: unlink Plexilent in the Google Home, Alexa or SmartThings app at any time, and that service stops sending us commands. When the service tells us you unlinked (Google Home and SmartThings do this at once), we delete its access tokens. You can also email us to have them deleted.
6. Who we share information with
We share information only as described here:
| Recipient | What | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Google Cloud / Firebase (Google LLC) | Account, home and device information; diagnostics | Hosting, sign-in, database, cloud functions, notifications, crash reports |
| Apple / Google push services | Notification token and message | Delivering notifications to your phone |
| Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Samsung SmartThings | As in §5, only if you link them | Voice and app control |
| People you share a home with | As in §4 | Shared control |
| Authorities | Only what the law requires | Valid legal requests, or to protect people’s safety or our legal rights |
| A buyer or successor | Information needed to continue the Services | If our business is merged or sold; they must keep this policy’s protections |
Our service providers process information only on our instructions and must protect it.
7. Where information is stored
Our cloud services run on Google Cloud servers, which may be located outside India (for example Singapore or the United States). We rely on Google’s security and data-protection commitments for this storage.
8. How long we keep information
| Information | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Account (name, email, mobile) | Until you delete your account |
| Home and device configuration | While your home exists. A home shared with others stays available to its remaining members until they remove it |
| Device status from the gateway | Current values are overwritten as they change; event history is deleted after about 24 hours |
| Voice-assistant access tokens | Until the service tells us you unlinked it, or you ask us to delete them |
| Crash reports and diagnostics | Up to 90 days (Firebase defaults) |
| Records we must keep by law | As long as the law requires |
9. Your choices and rights
- Access and correction: see and edit your name and mobile number in the app (Profile), or ask us.
- Delete your account: in the app, open Profile → Delete account and confirm with your password. This deletes your account and profile. Homes you share with other people stay available to them; to have a home’s data removed entirely, remove all its devices or email us.
- Email request: write to connect@plexilent.com from your account’s email address to access, correct or delete your information. We reply within 30 days. We may ask you to confirm it is your account.
- Withdraw consent / permissions: turn off phone permissions (Bluetooth, location, camera, microphone, notifications) in your phone’s settings at any time; features that need them will stop working.
- Unlink voice assistants: see §5.
10. Security
We protect information with encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), access rules on our database, app integrity checks, and encrypted Bluetooth mesh communication between your devices. Access within our company is limited to people who need it to run the Services. No system is completely secure; if a breach affecting your personal data occurs, we will notify you and the authorities as the law requires.
11. Cookies (website)
plexilent.com uses cookies Google Analytics to remember preferences and understand how the site is used. The mobile apps do not use advertising cookies or advertising identifiers.
12. Children
The Services are not intended for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 without the consent of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email connect@plexilent.com and we will delete it.
13. Indian law (Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023)
We process personal data in line with India’s data-protection laws. You can contact our Grievance Officer (§15) about any concern. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Services change. We will post the new version here with its effective date and, for significant changes, tell you in the app or by email.
